to help you with your Wedding Stationery

I have compiled a few Hints and Tips to guide you through the planning and ordering of your Wedding Stationery.  I like to keep things as simple and clear as possible for so I hope that you find this helpful.  If you have any questions or requests then please feel free to contact me.

1.  Below is a list of “standard” Wedding Stationery items.  You may, or may not, want everything from this list plus you may have additional requests.

2.  Have you already considered your Guest List, or do you have set numbers in mind?  You need to begin calculating your stationery requirements.

Remember that each couple/family will only need 1 invitation between them but will need individual place cards for the tables.

3.  Next is the Fun Part … the designing and choosing of your Wedding Stationery!  I Do designs is here to help and guide you through the entire process.  I offer a wide range of designs from which you may choose your perfect design but further to this we offer a fully bespoke and customisable service.

The most important thing that we need to establish are the details of your chosen “Theme”.  I chose hearts but you may prefer flowers, butterflies, candy, chocolate, fairytale, Winter wonderland, Las Vegas or Autumn?  The list is endless and everything is open to personal interpretations, preferences, colour choices and taste!

There are so many ideas and themes to choose from that this is often the single most daunting decision for many brides.  If you haven’t decided on your theme yet then don’t worry – there’s plenty of time to make your decision and hopefully we can help you get a clearer, visual, picture of what would work for you.

Further thoughts about your theme to consider are :

 Have you decided on the colours for your wedding yet?

 Have you chosen your bridesmaids dresses yet?

 Have you got any pictures or inspiration that could help you?

 Are you having a church or civil ceremony?

 Do you prefer traditional or contemporary ideas?

 Where is your reception being held?  What is the colour/style of the venue?

 What is it that you really DON’T like?

 What month are you getting married in?  

 What elements of your Wedding have you ordered / decided upon?

 Is there an idea you have but you’ve never seen it?  Don’t worry about “strange” requests or ideas I am very open minded and will help you to

unpick your ideas until we have a desired outcome.

 Maybe you are feeling bombarded with Wedding magazines, themes, colours, traditions, external pressures from people around you and can’t sleep properly without dreaming about dresses and veils!  Well …. If this is you then please go and put some chilled out music on, grab a deserved cup of tea (and maybe a biscuit!), a notebook and a pencil and then start jotting things down that come into your mind.  You should be enjoying yourself!    

Now we are down to the nitty-gritty of your Wedding Stationery design and need to start considering

what you actually want your Wedding Stationery to look and feel like.  

More specific Stationery thoughts to consider are :

 Do you like the standard fold invitations or would you like something a bit different?  I offer a range of standard, gate and pocket fold style invitations.

Have you got something specific in mind?

 Do you prefer plain edging, deckled or fancy border designs?  I offer a range of different edge designs.  Please contact me for more details.

 Would you like to have matt or a slightly shiny (pearlised) effect backing card?  I can offer you samples to look at to help you here.

 What style of font and wording would you like?  I can offer anything you require (within the limitations of our computers!).  

I can supply you with samples to choose from to help you.

 Consider a “base” colour for your wedding stationery.  This will usually be either White or Ivory.  There are some obvious selections (for example : Chocolate and Ivory) but please don’t feel pressurised to choose something that you don’t feel right with.  Speak up!

Please don’t feel limited to White or Ivory > I can create a wide range of colour combinations to suit you.  The only thing to bear in mind is that people need to be able to clearly read the wording on the paper.  Therefore the “backing” paper needs to be quite light in colour and not make your eyes go funny when you try and read something from it.  I can supply samples and selections to help you make this decision.

 How would you like your card embellished and designed?  Do you like the contemporary cut-out designs or would you prefer some sparkly bits, ribbon and bows?

 Do you want everything flat-backed (printed/stuck) to the card or would you like some things to be raised and stand out?

I am sure that this list is not exhaustive but I hope that it has helped give you some inspiration with your Stationery decisions and choices.
