It’s spooky season! October is full of ghosts, ghouls, and a dash of pumpkin spice. Despite Halloween only being celebrated for one day, the atmosphere takes over the entire month. October is also a fantastic time to get married. The autumn colours are gorgeous, and it’s still just warm enough to have an outdoor ceremony.

So, if you’re getting married in October, why not have a Halloween wedding?

Halloween-Themed Weddings

If your wedding is close to Halloween, you can add a few spooky elements without dominating your existing theme. A few pumpkins among your flowers, or using orange and purple tablecloths, will make your wedding one to remember.

Some lucky couples go all out on the Halloween theme, even booking out their venue on October 31st! If Halloween is your favourite holiday, it can be a lot of fun for you and your guests.

When planning your wedding, avoiding holidays is recommended, but as few people travel for Halloween, the traffic is never an issue. You may even find venues offering discounts for around that time, and who can say no to that?

If Halloween is your chosen theme, you can’t have your wedding in any old venue (although ‘old’ is recommended!). There are plenty of old churches and country manors that can be made extra-spooky with dim lighting, candles, and the right decorations. Gothic weddings (more about those later!) are more popular than ever, so there are plenty of venues that will be tailored to suit a darker theme.

What to Wear to a Halloween Wedding

Choosing what you and your partner will wear for your wedding is one of the biggest decisions you can make. For a Halloween wedding, it’s even more crucial, and it depends how spooky you want to be on your special day.

Some couples keep it simple, with a black dress and suit. Maybe a tinge of red for the more vampiric look. But others go all out, wearing masks or even full costumes! There are plenty of legendary spooky couples to take inspiration from. Here are a few of our favourites:

  • Morticia and Gomez – Addams Family
  • Jack and Sally – The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Seymour and Audrey – Little Shop of Horrors
  • Louis and Lestat – Interview with a Vampire (perfect for a gay wedding!)
  • Chucky and Tiffany – Bride of Chucky

That last one may be a little too scary for young guests, but you can incorporate ideas from anywhere, or create a brand-new look from scratch!

Speaking of guests, the dress code for your wedding can be as spooky as you’d like. From black, red, and purple finery to quality costumes, it’ll be a lot of fun no matter what they turn up in!

Halloween Wedding Stationery

Of course, no Halloween wedding is complete without some beautiful invitations and day stationery.

The first thing to establish is your colour scheme. The best stationery complements your flowers and decorations without blending into the background. Thankfully, there are plenty of options that suit a Halloween theme.

When you think of Halloween colours, orange and purple are the first to spring to mind. The former matches those amazing autumn leaves outside, and the pumpkins we leave on the doorstep. Purple complements it perfectly, adding some cool to the warmth of orange.

If you’re considering a more vampiric style, red is the way to go. Blood red invitations will tell your invitees that they’re in for something special, and you can continue that feeling on the big day. However, you have to choose your font colours carefully if you want them to be legible. You can have a lot of fun with gothic fonts, as long as they’re still easy to read. Red is still the colour of love, but for a Halloween wedding it can be so much more!

Gothic Wedding Stationery

If you and your partner are goths, or just prefer the style over a traditional wedding, you can make your big day one for the history books. Designing the perfect wedding is all about expression, so if black is your thing, make it part of your wedding.

Simply adding black accessories is all you need for gothic designs!

Black is a great colour for your stationery, although it’s best kept to the border and accessories. Having your information on white card won’t ruin the overall theme, and your guests will be glad of it. Instead make the borders look amazing with black lace, ribbon, and even flowers

However dark you want your wedding to be, we can create amazing gothic wedding invitations and day stationery that you and your guests will love. All of our designs are built to last for a long time, so your guests can keep their invitations, order of service or even table place cards. Our stationery is too good to throw away, so why not display them? By putting your designs in frames, or in a scrapbook, you’ll be able to relive the memories whenever you’d like.
