How much does Wedding Stationery Cost in 2026 Blog Image

Introduction

One of the first questions we’re asked by newly engaged couples is ‘How much should we budget for our Wedding Stationery?‘.  While the simplest answer is ‘It depends on how many guests you’re inviting’, the reality is a bit more nuanced than that.

The cost of wedding stationery in 2026 can vary significantly depending on the style, printing methods, embellishments and the quantities required.  From save the dates to ‘on the day’ stationery, every decision you make plays a part in the overall budget.

In this guide, we’ll break down the typical costs of wedding stationery in 2026, explain what influences the price and share practical tips to help you plan your wedding budget.  Click here to request a free budget calcuator.

What items are included in Wedding Stationery?

Before we can work out a quote for your wedding stationery we need to know what items you’d like to order.  Spend some time thinking through and working out what items of stationery you need for your big day, what items you’d like for your big day and what you really, really don’t want anywhere near your big day!  Here’s a list of some of our most popular stationery items to help you make a start on this.  If you would like to discuss other stationery items that aren’t on the list, or on our website, please get in touch.

Save the Dates

Wedding Invitations

Evening Invitations

RSVP Cards

Information Cards

Order of Service Booklets

Table Plans

Table Name/Number Signs

Placecards

Favours / Lottery Wallets

Menus

Welcome Signs

Order of Day Signs

Guest Books

Thank You Cards

You don’t need to order everything from this list and we don’t expect you to pay for everything in one go.

We are happy to stagger orders to suit your timeline.  For example, we will start with either your Save the Dates or Invitations – you will pay a 50% deposit (just for these items) and the balance upon completion.  Then, once you have all of your guest numbers and information finalised, closer to your wedding date, we will create another order form for the ‘On the Day’ items you need – at this stage we request another 50% deposit and then the balance on completion.  By staggering our ordering process we find this really helps couples in terms of their budgeting.

What Affects the Cost of Wedding Stationery?

We mentioned above that there are factors that can affect the final price of your Wedding Stationery.  So, lets break that down:

Number of Guests

This may sound an obvious one, but, ofcourse – the number of guests you’re inviting will absolutely have an impact on your Wedding Stationery Budget.  A common mistake couples make, however, is that they work out their budget based on every guest needing an invitation but this isn’t the case.  You only need one Save the Date or Invitation per household.  Our prices are per Save the Date and Invitation – not per guest.

We’ve broken this down below to help you calculate how many wedding stationery items you may need:

Save the Dates – 1 per household

Wedding Invitations – 1 per household

Evening Invitations – 1 per household

RSVP Cards – as per invitations

Information Cards – as per invitations

Order of Service Booklets – usually 1 between 2

Table Plans – only 1 is needed

Table Name/Number Signs – 1 per table (including top)

Placecards – 1 per guest

Favours / Lottery Wallets – 1 per guest

Menus – 1 or 2 per table (usally 2 on a long top table)

Welcome Signs – only 1 is needed

Order of Day Signs – only 1 is needed

Guest Books – only 1 is needed

Thank You Cards – 1 per household

 Wedding Invitation Style

We usually build our clients’ wedding stationery suites by starting off with a Wedding Invitation design.  We have a lovely range of invitation styles to choose from, including Flat, Folded, Loop-Tied, Wallet, Cheque Book and Pocketfold designs.

Each of these styles is priced differently due to the design and printing work involved.  For example:

Our flat invitations are simply flat cards (often mounted with ribbon) with just one printed card.   Priced from £1.50 each for a single printed card – an added base mount card is 50p and flat ribbon or bows are 25p each.  So, for a flat, mouted invitation with ribbon this would be £2.25 including matt white or ivory envelopes.

Our pocketfold invitations have a die-cut, fold-out base with a built-in pocket.  These typically feature a printed cover plaque, invitation and upto 3 x loose inserts = 5 printed cards.  This design style starts from £5.00 each which includes a fixed invitation card inside and 2 loose inserts.  We can add a personalised plaque to the front for 50p, ribbon for 25p and an extra printed insert for 75p.

Card Selection

We offer a choice of either matt, textured or pearlised cards as standard.  So, for the most-part your card selection won’t affect the cost of your wedding stationery.  The only card we charge a premium for is glitter card.  For example, we usually charge 50p for an added mount card but we charge 75p if it’s glitter card.

Card Duplexing

Alongside our standard card selection we offer a duplexing service.  This is where 2 separate pieces of card are glued together to produce a single, extra-thick piece of card.  You can mix and match colours too.  There is a cost for this process – please get in touch for a quote.

Finishing Touches

As we mentioned earlier, our prices are calculated based on the components and details involved.  We have standard costs for added details and finishing touches such as:

Ribbon & Bows

Ribbon Sliders / Buckles

Belly Bands

Tassels

Wax Seals

Eyelets

Lace

Envelope Liners

Vellum Jackets

We are, ofcourse, happy to include as many ideas and embellishments onto your wedding stationery as you like but it is worth noting how these details will affect the price.

Guest Name & Envelope Printing

If you’re happy hand-writing your guest names onto your wedding invitations then that’s great – we print a line and allow space for you to write your guest names in as standard.  However, if you’d like us to print your guest names onto each invitation then we charge a flat fee for this.  The same applies for envelopes.  We include blank, matt ivory or white envelopes with all of our Save the Dates and Invitations.  However, if you’d like us to print your guest names and addresses onto the envelopes for you we will charge a flat fee for this.

Guest Name printing is included in the price of our Table Plan Boards, Placecards and Lottery Ticket Favour Wallets.

Spares

We’d always recommend ordering a few spares – especially of your invitations.  Whether it’s incase you make a mistake on any as you write them out or if your guest list changes – it’s just good practice to have a couple of spares.

Envelope Upgrades

We mentioned earlier that we supply blank, matt ivory or white envelopes as standard.  However, we can offer upgraded envelopes, liners and boxes on request.  They vary in price but we have coloured, pearlised and textured options available.

Specialist Printing

We print most of our work in-house on our Oki Pro 9431.  However, if your design requires specialist work such a foiling, letterpress, embossing or large-format printing (A2 or A1 size) then this will add to the cost of your wedding stationery.

Let's Do Some Sums!

So What Should Your Total Wedding Stationery Budget Be?

Most couples spend between £300 – £1,200 on their Wedding Stationery depending on guest numbers and how much ‘on the day’ stationery they require.  Based on our pricing, a classic wedding invitation-only package for 50 wedding day guests, plus an extra 50 evening guests, would typically cost around £250.

30 x Pocketfold Wedding Invitations @ £5.75 = £172.50

30 x Flat Evening Invitations @ £2.25 = £67.50

Postage & Packaging = £10.00

Invitations Total = £250.00

We have also chosen a pocketfold design with ribbon, plaqueand 2 inserts for the wedding invitations.

Cheaper options for your invitations are available.

We have based this on 100 guests which would work out to approximately 60 invitations.

Every wedding guest list is different so please bear this in mind when you work out your own budget.

Then, matching ‘On The Day’ Stationery for your 50 x wedding day guests at a traditional, seated, wedding breakfast, we’d recommend:

1 x A1 Table Plan Board @ £65.00

7 x Table Name / Number signs @ £3.00 each = £21.00

50 x Folded Placecards with ribbon @ 75p each = £37.50

14 x Menus Cards @ £3.00 each = £42.00

Postage & Packaging = £10.00

On The Day Stationery Total = £175.50

The above quote is based on what we think are essential items.

You may wish to add Order of Services, Wedding Vow Booklets, Welcome Signs, Guest Books and Thank You Cards.

For a Wedding with 50 day guests and 50 evening guests, a realistic Wedding Stationery Budget would be approximately £425.50.

Let’s Add Some Details

The quotation above is based on our classic pocketfold wedding invitations and flat evening invitations with ribbon.  We are happy to add further details, printing options and embellishments for you.  For example:

Small diamante ribbon buckles @ 50p each x 60 = £30.00

Glitter card mounts @ 75p each x 60 = £45.00

1 x Extra Insert in the Pocketfold Invitations @ 75p each x 30 = £22.50

Guest Information Printed onto the back of the Evening Invitations @ 25p each x 30 = £7.50

Envelope Liners @ 50p each x 60 invitations = £30.00

Guest Name Printing = £15.00

Envelope Printing = £25.00

Total = £175.00

Let’s add these details to your ‘On the Day’ Stationery too:

Small diamante ribbon buckles @ 50p each x 79 = £39.50

Table Plan x 8 / Table Names x 7 / Placecards x 50 / Menus x 14

Glitter card mounts @ 75p each x 29 = £21.75

Table Plan x 8 / Table Names x 7 / Menus x 14

On The Day Stationery Total = £61.25

With a Few Added Details your Wedding Stationery Quote will go from £425.50 to £661.75

Hitched say that couples should budget £100-£300 for their invitations and then £150-£400 for their ‘on the day’ stationey.  Therefore, this works out to a total wedding stationery budget between £250-£700.

According to Bridebook’s Wedding Report, UK couples spend an average of £378 on professionally designed and printed stationery, but that figure spans everything from a £20 Etsy template to a £1,500 bespoke illustrated suite.
