There are so many different types of wedding invitation: chequebooks, pocket folds, concertinas and more! All of these names can be confusing and it’s hard to know which is best for your wedding. Each design offers its own unique benefits depending on what you want from your wedding invitation.

So how do you know which design is right for you?

With so many styles to choose from, it can be impossible to decide which is best for your wedding. In this blog we will give a brief description about each wedding invite design and explain the benefits and drawbacks of each.

We have also included a price guide, but we always try our best to match your budget. You can also order a free sample of any of our designs!

Chequebook Wedding Invitations

Chequebook invitations are a traditional and elegant design, perfect for the classic white wedding. They are a booklet style invitation with detachable card inserts. This means that if you want to provide your guests with a lot of information (details about the venue, menu options, gift list information etc.) you can add up to four card inserts, keeping the invitation minimal, without missing anything out.

Each booklet contains an invitation insert and one rsvp card, with the return address printed on the reverse. The cards layer up on top of each, with clear tabs showing what each card is for: RSVP, Information, Change of Date, etc. Each insert has a perforated edge, so guests can easily remove the single cards if needed.

If you’d like to add a map and directions to the venue, the perforated tear makes it easy to remove and take along with you. Same for the RSVP card, this can be easily removed and popped in the post – all of our RSVP cards have a return address printed on the reverse included free of charge.

‘The design options are endless with Chequebook wedding invitations.’

Along with the insert cards, Chequebook invitations have a front and back cover. The stack of insert cards are sandwiched between. They are generally landscape in orientation.

The design options are endless with Chequebook invitations. The front cover can feature images, ribbons, lace, or bows, each laid flat down the left side. We have many styles available with printed designs or modern foiled lettering on the cover. If you want to make your design really stand out, you can make the back cover a vibrant colour. This is also a simple yet effective way of incorporating your wedding colour scheme.

Check out more of our designs for inspiration in our Chequebook gallery.

Finally, Chequebooks, along with our Concertina designs are a more cost effective invitation, compared to the larger pocket fold designs. They are much lighter, so will save on individual postage costs too!

Our chequebook invitations start from £3.75 each. Prices will vary due to materials and design. As with all our invitations, we can customise the design to suit your theme, colour scheme and styling.

Folded and Concertina Wedding Invitations

Our Folded wedding Invitations are an extremely popular style – with an incredible selection of designs, themes and colour schemes to choose from. These include Classic Folded cards in various shapes and sizes, Gatefolds, and our popular Concertina styles.

Classic Folded Wedding Invitations

From the front our Classic Folded cards look very similar to a pocket fold or pocket card design. They can feature personalised plaques on the front, bellyband wraps and can include ribbons, glitter cards, buckles, embellishments, or diamantes.

Inside is where they differ; instead of having a pocket to hold loose information cards they have a simple paper insert to include your invitation wording. There is plenty of space to add RSVP, Gift or Accommodation details on the opposite side. If required, we can add extra pages for you too.

Gatefold Wedding Invitations

The second design in our range of Folded invitations is our Gatefold wedding invitations. These are completely different in the way that they look and open. They open from the centre to reveal your wedding details inside. Your internal wedding details can be mounted onto any colour card, this is a great way of incorporating your wedding colours into the design.

These are an extremely pretty option as you can add ribbons, plaques, butterflies, buckles, or embellishments to the front – the options are endless!

The only limitation with Gatefold invitations is they have less space to print. We can however print on the 2 internal side panels, or we can add little pockets to hold slim information or RSVP cards if required. We always try to make the design work for you; but if you want to provide your guests with a lot of information, then our Concertina folded invitations may be a better match.

Concertina Wedding Invitations

Our Concertina style wedding invitations are our most popular folded design. They are a great alternative to pocket fold cards in many ways. Firstly, they provide plenty of space to contain all of your information. They fold neatly away, without the need for pockets or loose cards.

Concertina wedding invites come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can include a perforated self-addressed RSVP card. This style of invitation can be tied with ribbon, bellybands, or twine and can feature personalised plaques, ribbons and buckles to complete the look. Concertina invitations work well with printed designs and bespoke art work.

To conclude, our Folded and Concertina style wedding invitations are a more cost-effective invitation. Like the Chequebooks, they are very light, so you will save on individual postage costs too!

For more inspiration, please view our Folded Invitation gallery.

As with all our stationery, we can customise the design to suit your theme, colour scheme and styling.

Our Folded & Concertina invitations start from as little as £2.75 each. Prices will vary due to materials and design.

Classic Flat Wedding Invitations

Classic Flat Wedding Invitations look less elaborate in design, but they are oh so elegant and there’s a lot of flexibility with the design. They are all about the sleek lines, minimal fuss and if designed cleverly they can be the most striking wedding invitations you can buy!

They come with a wide selection of themes, designs, styles and choice of colours. We can use handmade cards and papers for rustic designs. Seeded papers for your guests to plant are also very popular. Foiled text can make the simplest of invitations stand out. They can be any shape or size you wish. If you are looking to wow, we even offer circular or arched invitations!

‘Classic Flat invitations can be the most striking wedding invitations you can buy!’

Our flat invitations are usually mounted, double or triple in some cases. The cards we use are all heavy weight card over 265gsm to ensure the highest quality. Adding the mounts adds luxury and also allows you to easily incorporate your wedding colour schemes into your invitation design.

We can add glitter, mirrored or textured materials to the layers to incorporate your colour schemes and design themes. Extra embellishments can complete the design. For example, ribbons, buckles, diamantes, pearls or even gold/silver leaf.

Classic flat invitations do have their limitations. As they are only one card, they offer limited space for printing. They do not come with separate inserts for all of your extra information and rsvp details. We do offer options; your RSVP details; address, email or phone numbers are usually added to the bottom of the invitation. We can also reverse print, so if you wish to include any extra details these can be printed on the reverse.

Alternatively, we can create a flat back bundle; this would include a couple of smaller cards that can be printed with your extra information, and you can also have a separate self-addressed RSVP card for your guests to return to you. Despite being only one piece of card, there are plenty of options when designing a flat wedding invitation.

Our flat wedding invitations are our most cost-effective choice. Prices start from £1.75 each. Prices will vary due to materials and design.
