Why do we charge for samples?

The benefits of getting a fully personalised wedding invitation sample.

A lot of companies offer free samples for wedding invitations on their websites.
We don’t, we charge a small fee for ours, £5. We wanted to explain a little bit about why that is…

At I Do Designs we offer a truly bespoke service, not just changing colours or ribbons etc.
Nothing is ‘off the peg’.
We want to talk to our customers; we want to get to know them and about the wedding they are planning. We want to build a relationship so that we can work together to create an invitation that is truly bespoke to each person and their wedding.

The invitations on our website are merely a selection of things we have previously created; they are a starting point for our customers to see if any designs/colours/themes catch their eye.

We tailor each of our designs to customers specifications, to include certain;

Colour schemes
Ribbon colours
Bows
Personalisation’s/initials etc
Photographs/drawings/graphics
We have an in-house design team that create our artworks
Card designs – pocketfolds, cheque books, flatback cards, gatefolds etc

Your invitations are the first glimpse your guests will receive of your big day, they set the tone so time, care and thought has to go into designing and creating them.

When creating our stationery, we use high quality materials, for example; all of our card is weighted, our glitters are card not paper, ribbons are double satin, buckles are metal not plastic – we don’t cut corners to save the pennies.

We use the same materials in our sample cards as we would use in your finished products so you can feel the quality of what we produce.
This however, doesn’t mean that your invitations have to cost the earth, we believe our prices are extremely competitive and we can work to meet a budget. We can offer different options to our customers in the design process that may allow for a more cost-effective invitation – never using inferior materials or reducing the quality or design.

This level of care and consideration is put into every single sample card we produce. We open a dialogue, we ask questions and discuss your ideas and design choices – so we can produce you a sample that is as close to your finished product as possible. Obviously, there is room for change and alterations can easily be made, but we like to nail it, every time!

We estimate the average time taken to produce a sample invitation is between 2-4hrs, (more if you have a design element included) plus the materials used and postage costs…you do the Math!

Now you’re all thinking – why do we ONLY charge £5?! – The answer is simple – we LOVE our job!

At I Do Designs we have a passion for creating wedding invitations, we do actually live, breathe and sleep it – we love it!

The overwhelming majority of customers who order samples from us go on to order those samples as invitations and then the rest of their day stationery – that says something.

We do a good job, no we do a great job.

We think £5 is a very fair price to pay for the service and quality of a sample invitation you will receive.
