Wedding Invitations
Welcome to our Wedding Invitations page!
Here you’ll find some important info about the wedding stationery we love creating the most, as well as a gallery of designs so you can choose the perfect invitations for your big day.
If none of them catch your eye, be sure to check out our bespoke design service, where we can create the invitations of your dreams.
Types of Wedding Invitations
Here are the different types of wedding invitations we create:
Pocket fold
Pocket Fold wedding invitations are a ‘book’ design that keep separate card inserts safe inside. This means that the outside can have a clean look with a simple design or can be accessorised with embellishments, bows, flowers, and/or ribbons.
The loose insert cards can hold a range of information, from RSVP details, information about the ceremony, menu items, dress code, and much more! This gives you more freedom than other invitations that need to have all the information on a single page.
Cheque Books
Cheque Book wedding invitations work in a similar way to our pocket folds but are more rectangular in design. They are also smaller, which makes them more cost effective overall.
If you want to provide a lot of information for invitees, cheque book invitations are one of the best choices.Â
Laser Cut
Laser Cut wedding invitations are very intricate designs, and that makes them gorgeous! Also known as ‘lace cut,’ we use a laser to cut card into incredible patterns, which add so much depth to your invitations.
Laser cutting can be incorporated into most wedding invitation designs but are most commonly used with a Pocket Fold or envelope design.
Classic Flat
Classic Flat wedding invitations are the simplest type we produce, but that doesn’t mean they don’t look fantastic! They consist of a single piece of flat card, that can be embellished with a second layer of card, borders, and accessories to make it more special.
These are our most cost-effective designs with plenty of ways to customise and make them your own.
Wallets
Wallet wedding invites are exactly what you’d imagine; you get a wallet contained within the invitation and information card inserts, keeping all the information in one place for your guests. They also have layers of card on the front to create borders, and make the invitation feel more solid.
Loop Tied
Also known as Luggage Tags, Loop-Tied wedding invitations are pieces of card secured together with ribbon or string.
These are fun to design with plenty of space for the details of your wedding!
Concertina
Concertina wedding invitations are a very popular type of invite, with a relatively simple design that you can have a lot of fun with.
Instead of separate pieces of card or inserts, which can be lost if you’re not careful, everything is contained on one large design, which folds neatly into a square or rectangle.
Folded
Last but not least are our lovely Folded Wedding invitations. There are many different types of folded invite, with one of our favourites being Gate Folds.
These have two flaps on the front, that open to reveal your gorgeous invitation. The reverse of the flaps can be printed on, giving you even more room for wedding details.
They can even be sealed closed with a sticker or tied with a ribbon, giving your invitees the feeling of unwrapping a present when it lands on their doorstep.
Why Choose Idodesigns?
What makes us stand out from the crowd is our focus on people. To us, you’re more than a customer. We want to become a part of your wedding planning experience, providing invitations and day stationery that we’re proud of.
Everything we design is made from the best craft materials, even down to the glue! We like to create designs that are for more than one day; works of art that are worth displaying for years after your wedding.
We know how stressful planning your wedding can be, there’s so much involved it makes even the professionals’ heads spin! That’s why we work hard to streamline the design process as much as possible, so you can focus on everything else.
FAQs
How long before a wedding should you send Invitations?
You should send your wedding invitations no later than 6 weeks before the big day. But the sooner you send them, the more time your guests have to RSVP and prepare for your wedding.
How far in advance should I order Wedding Invitations?
To give us plenty of time to order materials and create your stationery, we recommend ordering your invitations a few months before your wedding day.
How far in advance do guests need to RSVP for a wedding?
To give you plenty of time to organise your guest list, your RSVP-by date should be 3-4 weeks before your wedding day.
How much should I spend on Wedding Invitations?
This is a tricky one to answer, and it all depends on your budget and how much of it you’d like to spend on wedding stationery. As a guide you should allow between 5-10% of your total spending for wedding stationery.
This should include your Order of Service, Table Plan and Place Cards, Welcome Signs, Menus, and of course, your fabulous invitations!
What to write on Wedding Invitations
The most important details to include on your wedding invites are your names, the date, the location of the venue, and how to RSVP.
You can also add information about hotels, parking, a dress code, and your wedding menu, but all of this can be provided after you’ve received the RSVP, saving space on the invites.
How to make your own Wedding Invitations
If you’re on a tight budget, and don’t want to spend too much on your wedding stationery, we can work to meet most budgets, but if you want to get involved yourself, we offer DIY stationery kits that allow you to create your own gorgeous invitations using quality materials.
Wedding Invitation wording
The wording you use on your wedding invitations is very important. You need to have all the vital information clearly readable for all of your guests. A font that complements your designs can help them look even more amazing too!
